ILM TV: Imam Siraj Wahhaj Helping Hands Fundraiser

Helping Hands Fundraiser

Last week I attended a magnificent fundraiser by Helping Hands Relief Development. The keynote speaker was Imam Siraj Wahhaj and he gave a great reminder.

Helping Hands was trying to raise money for a rehabilitation center in Pakistan. If you remember, there was a terrible earthquake in Pakistan back in 2005 and since then there have been several severe floods.

The earthquake alone left hundreds of people with amputated limbs and broken bodies. And on top of the physical damage, many of the victims also suffered psychological damage.

The Purpose

The goal of the Rehabilitation Center will be to help these victims become self-reliant and independent again. If youc an imagine, many of them were otherwise healthy people who were the sole breadwinners for their families.

After the earthquake and the loss of one or more limbs, they were suddenly reduced to beggar status. The psychological impact of such a blow would have been just as devastating as the physical impact.

What Helping Hands Wants To Do

Helping Hands has been out there for years already helping these victims get fitted for proper prosthetic limbs and providing physical therapy. That alone has helped many people get out of wheelchairs and become virtually independent.

On top of that, they also provided mental care as well which helps the victims and their families and their society in the long run.

The Fundraiser

In addition to the talk from Imam Siraj, there was also a comedy show put on by Omar Regan. I was able to record that also and it will be available on this website next week, Inshallah. However, if you can’t wait that long, you can see it on YouTube now.

If you can (and of course you can) please head on over the Helping Hands Relief Development and donate something to this beautiful cause. HHRD has not asked me to do any sort of advertising for them and I don’t get paid or get any material benefit for this little promo.

I just feel this is a wonderful cause and something all Muslims should be able to get behind.

May Allah reward you for whatever you can do, Ameen.
