Muttaqi Ismail: Baseball Fan, History Buff, Data Nerd

Hello, my name is Muttaqi Ismail.

In this space, I’ll share my thoughts and studies in the use of data and analytics (mostly utilizing the Python programming language) in the field of finance.

I’m also a baseball fan (LFGM) and history buff. So we might also discuss the occasional baseball or history anecdote.

Muttaqi Ismail: The Basics

Let’s talk in third person.

Muttaqi was born in Alabama and raised in Brooklyn, NY. That’s how he became an avid Mets fan. Even though he currently resides in the Atlanta area, surrounded by the enemy (Braves fans) he has maintained his loyalty to the Mets.

Unfortunately, the Mets have not reciprocated that love and have somehow managed to break his heart year after year.

Nonetheless, every spring, Muttaqi Ismail musters up the faith and courage to hope the boys in blue and orange will do the (almost) impossible.

Mr. Ismail is also a history buff, despite what his jealous adversaries may say. He has worked diligently to expand his understanding of history and share that knowledge with the world.

If there’s anything he loves more than history, it’s technology. He’s a real technophile.

One might even describe him as an “early adapter.” He tries to stay in the know on the cutting edge of consumer technology. That doesn’t mean he buys all the latest gadgets. But it does mean that he usually has an idea of what’s going on in the tech world.

Learning Python

Back to first person.

Recently, I’ve been trying to up his Python skills. That’s because I’m a nerd and stats, numbers, and generalizations are my thing.

This blog (arrogantly named after yours truly) is being used to showcase his data analysis skills. Even though I’m using Python right now, I plan to learn R in the near future.

I already pretty familiar with SQL and Excel. Perhaps I’ll will show some of his work with those as well.

By now, you’re probably tired of hearing about Muttaqi Ismail and even more tired of hearing him talk in third person.

So we’ll end this little rant about absolutely nothing and ask you peruse this website to get an idea of the data analysis (and baseball) knowledge of Muttaqi Ismail.
